Austin Housing Authority Resident Scholarship

The Austin Housing Authority Resident Scholarship was created in 2001 to inspire and support Pathways residents and Voucher clients planning to attend an institution of higher education. The scholarship serves as a vehicle of hope for those who desire to further their education and work toward self-sufficiency.

To date, the program has awarded over $2 million of scholarship funds to graduating high school seniors and adults returning to school.

How to Apply

Scholarships are available annually on a competitive basis, and the award amount varies from year to year, depending on the availability of funds. The scholarship applications usually open in January for awards available in the fall of the same year.

Scholarship Applications Are Currently Closed

Applications will reopen in January 2027.

Supporting Continuing Education

Higher education can change the trajectory of a family for generations, but for too many students, financial barriers stand in the way of finishing what they start. Our scholarship program removes those barriers by helping talented, driven students persist, graduate, and step into lasting opportunity.

By investing in education, we’re not just funding degrees—we’re helping break cycles of hardship and build a stronger future for families and communities.
