Annual Recertifications

Each year, Austin Housing Authority must recertify the families that receive housing assistance. We verify household income and composition to ensure the family is still qualified for the program and to redetermine their rent. We will notify both you and the resident of any and all updates.

Interim Changes

Tenants are responsible for notifying Austin Housing Authority of any changes to their household income or composition. If these changes impact their HCV eligibility, we will notify you of any actions we need to discuss. Landlords have the right to approve or deny any household composition updates.

Inspections

We conduct inspections to help ensure your property meets HUD requirements and provides safe, quality housing for residents. Our team will assess conditions inside the unit and throughout the property to verify compliance with program standards. If deficiencies are identified, we will work with you to outline required corrections and applicable timelines.

Rent Reviews & Adjustments

We conduct rent reviews upon request to help ensure your property is fairly priced within the local market. Our team will evaluate comparable units in your area and consider current market conditions to determine rent reasonableness. Requests to adjust rent may also result in a reduction after rent reasonableness review is performed.
