If you live in a Pathways unit that receives project-based rental assistance, you are required to report changes in household income and composition. Reporting changes and updates in a timely manner ensures that you pay the correct rent and that you remain in compliance with your lease and HUD’s requirements.
What do I need to report?
You are required to report the following changes:
- An unemployed household member becomes employed
- Your household income increases by $200 or more per month
- You want to add someone to your household (other than newborns, new household members must go through the admissions process prior to living in the unit)
- Someone moves out of your household
- Someone in the household becomes a full-time student
You are encouraged to report other changes, such as:
- Decreases in wages or other types of income
- Increases in childcare expenses, if applicable
- Increases in medical or disability expenses, if applicable
Changes should be reported as soon as possible after they occur. Reporting promptly helps ensure your portion of rent is accurate and avoids potential overpayments or program violations. All changes MUST be reported within 30 days.
How do I report a change?
To report a change, submit an Update Form to property management. You can hand it to staff at the management office during office hours, drop it after hours in the night drop, or send it to the property email address. Please include any supporting documents to verify the change.
Property management will reach out to you and outline any additional documentation that is needed to process the change. It is important that you provide the requested documentation by the written deadline. If you don’t, this can result in changes not being processed, a lease violation, and/or no advanced notice of a rent increase.
