Each year, all Housing Choice Voucher participants are required to complete an annual recertification to confirm household information and continued eligibility.
What is an annual recertification?
Annual recertification is a required yearly review of your household’s:
- Income
- Family composition
- Eligibility information
This review is required by HUD and is a condition of continued participation in the HCV program.
When does recertification happen?
Once a year, you will be notified when it is time to complete your annual recertification. It is important to respond by the deadline listed in your notice to avoid interruption of assistance.
How to submit an annual recertification
To help avoid delays, please complete and submit all requested forms and documents within 14 days of receiving your recertification request.
- Complete your annual recertification forms. Please fill out and sign the DocuSign Annual Certification forms sent to you by the Austin Housing Authority.
- Submit the required supporting documents. Please provide documents that verify the income and expenses listed on your recertification forms. Supporting documents can be uploaded with your forms, emailed, mailed, or dropped off at our office.

- 2- 4 consecutive Employment paystubs
- Childcare expenses showing monthly amounts (1 to 3 months)
- Full-time student documentation (18 or older)
- Medical Expenses showing monthly amounts (1 to 3 months)
