1. Find a Housing Choice Voucher client
2. Complete the moving packet
The client will be provided a moving packet with forms for you to complete. Submit completed forms and the direct deposit form with a voided check to the Austin Housing Authority HCV team. Austin Housing Authority will review the rent to determine if it is affordable for the tenant and reasonable compared to similar unassisted units.
3. Complete an NSPIRE Inspection
Austin Housing Authority will complete an NSPIRE Inspection of the unit.
4. Submit a Completed Lease to Austin Housing Authority
If the unit passes the inspection, you will submit a completed lease to Austin Housing Authority. We will then send you the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) contract for signature. Please note the HAP contract must be signed within 60 days of receipt or it will be void.
You will receive your housing assistance payment directly deposited to your account. Housing assistance payments are issued twice per month by direct deposit. Payments are generally scheduled for the 1st and 15th of the month, or the next business day if those dates fall on a weekend or holiday.
